Oh, what dreams we have for our kids! There are the big ones and the little ones. We hope and pray our kids stay healthy, try hard in school, succeed in their pursuits and dive into their passions. We wish for them the very best of all that life can offer. ย And every day we watch them fly or fall- as they take those new steps toward the life they were designed to lead.ย It’s the most exhilarating and exhausting journey to witness, isn’t it?
For me, these dreams for my children aren’t found in the success or achievements they will have in their lives. My greatest passion in raising my kids, is watching the values and principles I hope to instill in their hearts, play out in life, as they make hard decisions in those circumstances that reveal who they are. ย When I see my kids so naturally illuminate character traits I value most, there is nothing that brings me more joy. I’ve always been one to focus more on the heart of a person, rather than the accomplishments or accolades. ย My biggest parenting goal, would be to raise my two kids with good hearts.
There are lots of things that define a good heart, yes?
So many…
I’ve been honored to see some of my favorite character traits already taking hold of my kids’ hearts and shining through in their actions at school, on the field, and in life.
Such joy!
Today I am deeply honored to announce to you, that I have been chosen to be one of the contributors to MomBable.com! Mary Katherine Backstrom runs a classy show over there, filling her site with AMAZINGLY beautiful content, full of encouragement and inspiration for moms. If you haven’t checked out her site and her FB page, I urge you to go there and take a look around. You won’t be disappointed.
Today MomBabble has published my first piece! Woohoo! I would be so grateful if you could go check it out HERE, where I share more about the characteristics I see in my boy as I watch him grow up. After recently celebrating his 10th birthday, I wanted to share more about his heart and all the good I see in it. The dreams we have for our kids, continue to grow as they grow. The qualities I see in the heart of my son, as I watch from the sidelines of life- show evidence that my dreams for my kids are already coming true.

Aw, beautifully written and definitely can’t say enough what a wonderful mom you are. I truly have no doubt that your boy shines and will continue to in the future, as well, because of you ๐
Thanks SO much for your vote of confidence, Janine!! You are so sweet. ๐ I can only hope he does. Each day is another day to watch and see… (The teen years haven’t hit yet, so there’s that! lol )
HUGE congrats, Kitty. Well done you ๐
Thanks dear one. <3 I'm really just blown away I was chosen. I'm THRILLED about it!! ๐
Oh, Chris, that was just so absolutely beautiful! As look at my own daughter and wonder how two years — just two years, and at the same time, wow! two years already?! — could have passed by so fast and wonder if I will always be filled with such amazement, I see from reading your post that the wonderment that comes with being a parent never ceases. It sounds like you have raised a strong, intelligent, thoughtful boy who is growing up to be a young man. I can only hope that I can instill in my daughter the principles you clearly have with your son. And congrats on being published on Mom Babble!
Oh Bev- THANK YOU so so much for your beautiful encouragement and thoughtful response to my essay! It does go by so so fast, and I can only pray that my little man continues to grow in those traits for many years to come. I just know your little sweetie will surely do the same. <3
Off to check it out:)!

AW! I love that Jennifer!! From one mam to another… I’m sure you totally get it. <3
I’m learning a lot from you, Christine, about parenting and so much more. I just wanted you to know that.
*Tears* You know what, Julie? I’m learning so much from YOU, too. Truly. Oh, how I love that about us… <3
It is such a good post. My dreams for my kids are the same as yours. I want so much more for them other than that they support themselves well, which is a dream that I think many parents stop at for their kids.
AMEN to THAT, Andrea! The dreams we have go much deeper than that…
Thank you SO much for your support, dear friend. I’m so grateful for you!! XO
Congratulations Chris! I saw your post on FB but am just getting over here now. And now I’m going to read that piece!
