I am A MOM OF THE YEAR!!! Yep! You read that RIGHT my friends!!! Meredith over at The Mom of the Year decided I earned that award!! Or maybe she ran out of moms to choose from… either way- I’ll TAKE IT! Oh boy, did I have a plan for this post! My strategy was going to result in a GLOWING tribute to all I do and sacrifice for my precious cherubs! I couldn’t wait to bask in the the deep honor and acknowledgment my kids would shower on me, as asked them why I would be chosen for “mom of the year.” It was time for me to finally get something back for all the years I’ve been consumed with raising them.
I could just taste the sweet spotlight of dancing in that Motherhood pride, as I visualized walking on stage to get my big giant shiny trophy! My kids would be crying and applauding with a standing ovation! My husband would greet me with a bouquet of beautiful flowers!!
But…
That’s never how Motherhood really goes, now is it?

I was laughing so hard. Food? Water? Shelter? It’s nice that they think you are pretty also and definitely a bonus that their friends like you…this will come in handy later. 🙂
This sounds like the time I tried to get my kids to write down a favorite memory with grandparents…or the time I tried to get them to write down one thing they liked about their siblings (to counter all the fighting)…will I never learn? At least you got a list. I got…NOTHING! I know they have good memories with their grandparents…they live next door and they do stuff with them frequently…and I know deep down that they like things about each other too. But ZIP! I’m thinking you did pretty good here!

I’m glad you got it to open to read it though!! Oh, how true to life your attempts are with your kids!!! It’s kinda like making them write thank you notes, ya know? I KNOW! That so cracked me up!! But really, I think the fact that you got them to write down 10 is impressive!
We gotta take what we can get, right?? LOL Even if Cade’s list really had 8, since two were totally illegible- which to me translates into scribble and probably has no real words there anyway!!! Not to mention he basically copied like three of them- food, shelter and water, I believe. So that makes- wait, let me get my calculator…five! I think…? Going to get more coffee. 😉
