Rock A Bye Boy

January 28, 2016 By momcafe 44 Comments

parenting, boys, birthday, baby, motherhood

Rock a bye baby…

It’s gone way too fast.

It will, they said.

It already has.

Ten years gone by

In the blink of an eye.

My baby has grown

It really does fly.

Rock a bye baby…

My baby no more.

But I glimpse at this boy

His heart ย I adore.

I still see my baby

Tucked into his age.

The years gathered round him

Through every stage.

Rock a bye baby…

So strong and secure.

I see how life built you

Designed you for more.

Holding tight to the memories

I witnessed you grow

They’ll always be sacred

This love we both know.

“What’s the big deal?”

You question, you guard.

But your words have deep meaning

I know this is hard.

You need affirmation

This big deal is big.

You once were my baby

Now you’re a big kid.

You struggle to face this

For you long to be

That baby I speak of

The baby I see.

Oh precious boy

I feel your dissent

No need to fight it

The loss of innocence.

It’s hard to move forward

Every step you must take

To become who you are

There are risks at stake.

But you must understand

My baby you’ll be

No matter what age

That’s what I’ll see.

So go forth and grow

And wrestle with it all

I’ll comfort and guide you

Be here when you fall.

Change is relentless

So change you will do

Age is defenseless

So years will pass too.

But one thing’s for certain

Know this to be true

My Rock a bye boy

I’ll always love you.

When should we set Scarlet and Cade up? When he turns 18? Or should we wait until he’s a bit older and more mature, so he’s ready to settle down? It’s gonna be such a beautiful marriage!!! SQUEEEE!!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi Chris! What a handsome son you have! And an award winner too ๐Ÿ™‚
Of course, he has a wonderful mom to lead him now and into the next few years. James Taylor has a song that says “The secret of life is enjoying the passing of time.” I think he’s right!
    Enjoy!!
    Blessings,
    Ceil

It’s been an interesting week. Cade has been off his game and quiet and I can tell he is in a bit of a funk about this. Sigh… I think I touched on one reason why here. Watching baby videos didn’t help either of us with that! LOL Oh but SO fun to do!! Amazing how fast this goes.

Pssst – just between you and me, right? My son – 20 – still cuddles with me when he’s home from college and is watching a show with me … Don’t tell anyone, as I suspect he’d be embarrassed but he does.
Your lad is a handsome, delightfully happy looking chap.

Thanks so much Candace!! I’m truly proud of this little man. I am praying he continues to shine with those traits through adulthood. BUT first we need to get through teens… LOL Will see. (TEENS? Gah! Can’t even… he’s my baby!)
