The Serenity Prayer…Kinda

March 18, 2012 By momcafe 10 Comments

Here’s a few updates from my recent posts…

1. I returned my waaaay too tight jeans that I recently bought at Kohls. I say this with a deflated spirit, yet as I release that discouraged sigh…I also breath in some relief. I tried. I always look at cool jeans that are tight and cute and think, “I wanna be the woman that wears those!” Well, I bought them, and wore them for about twenty minutes around the house in hopes they would stretch out to a comfortable enduring size, then proceeded to peel them off in dire pain. I gazed at them with passionate longing and desire, while holding them up I told my hubby, “but they are soooo cool!” Time to let go.

Acceptance is key. As much as I wanted to look like someone I’m not, I realize with both growing conviction and clarity, that my “comfortable quirky state of existence” is who I am. I cannot change.

2. I cleaned out my car! It took over an hour, but I sucked up all the crumbs, mud, leaves, trash, and broken toys using our home vacuum. I then wiped down all the nasty sticky dusty dirty tubs filled with snacks, waters, antibacterial wipes, candy and gum. I proceeded to continue wiping all the grime off the dashboard and front compartments as well. WHALAH!!! I then RE- organized and RE-placed all the back up clothes in the back up baby bag.  I placed new snacks in the tubs, and even got rid of the dilapidated shriveled up pink balloon in the back. It was well worth the sweat and tears for having this ugly chore done!

I feel refreshed, cleansed and rejuvinated, having completed this quite extraordinary task.  I braved what I dreaded…and though it’s anticipation was much worse than the actual endeavor, I am thrilled to say this area of my life is officially transformed. So glad I did it!  GO ME!

3. I did NOT return the maternity shorts; rather they have become my favorite article of clothing this week in the warm weather that abounds! I have worn them almost every day and I am ABSOLUTELY loving their slightly large elastic waste band.
They are comfortable and cute and just perfect for me! With that said…

I am so glad I decided to buy something that really goes against almost every rule in the woman book! I trusted my mighty gut (hey now, no side giggles about the mighty gut!) in the winds of adversity.  I mean, who on earth would buy maternity clothes when they are not pregnant? I say functional and practical are key, and boy am I glad to have them!  YIPPEE!

Oh, us women and mothers…

Don’t we know our serenity prayer? We can apply it to raising our kids as well as to ourselves. It’s not just for people with an addiction. Oh no, it’s the perfect theme to our everyday lives…and every child that we spend them with.

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.
The courage to change the things I can…
And the wisdom to know the difference!

Tight jeans.
Clean car.
Maternity shorts.

Love this one! What a great way to relate to motherhood! I think about that prayer all the time, but now I will think about it in a whole new light! 🙂

OH you are gonna be SOOOOOO JEALOUS of my cool M shorts! May I say that I even went back to look for more? Of course, you know my OCD – if it works, HOARD as many as you can! Very sad to say, there were none in the entire store….yes I looked EVERYWHERE, seeing as I found them in the misses section. So. Sad. For. Me.

I am extremely impressed with your writing skills as
well as with the layout on your blog. Is this a paid
theme or did you customize it yourself? Anyway keep up the nice
quality writing, it is rare to see a nice
    blog like this one nowadays.
