Another Voice! Ten Things of Thankful

April 12, 2014 By momcafe 32 Comments

Last weekend, my daughter Cassidy took the honor of doing Lizzi’s Link Up sharing her Ten Things of Thankful and I am so proud of how well she did!  Thank you ALL for being so wonderful and encouraging in your comments.  I was so deeply touched by every one of them.  I had Cassidy reply to those precious words of yours, and I believe she feels like a bit of a rockstar!  From the bottom of my mama heart…

Thank you.

I try very hard to keep things balanced around here.  Each child has different needs and desires and my kids experience life in completely different ways.  After all the attempts of filming Cassidy last weekend, (Picture Cade coming through the garage door RIGHT into the family room where we were filming…at the most IN opportune time… and Cass and I yelling “CADE!!! GO AWAY!!!”) and all the attention given to her, I felt a tug in my heart to play fair- and give justice where it’s needed.  My boy deserves a go at this gig!  Although he said he would rather play outside before his soccer practice, I told him we had a ‘PLAN’ and we will stick to it.  We haven’t had a block of time to do either the comment replies or Cade’s vlog all week…

So Friday after school- before Cassidy’s sleepover and Cade’s soccer practice:  We had 1 1/2  hours of time.  The ONLY block of time we will have to do this- all weekend.  Yup.

So we got ‘er done!  You may hear Derek opening the back door and some other fun sounds of goings on in our home.  But after watching my last vlog, I’m sure you are used to all the distractions that seem to occur when the camera is ON.  Our bar is held quite low around here… get used to it.  🙂

OHHHHHHhhhhhhh but CADE did a list TOO 😀 WOW! WOW! WOW!

    You GUYS!

This is absolutely THE MOST GORGEOUS TToT duo (because Cass’s vid was also LOVELY) and I have to say, I’m made all the more impressed because Cade, you look slightly as though being in front of the camera isn’t *really* your think, but credit to you – you wanted to participate and you DANG WELL DID IT ANYWAY. And you did good – a truly lovely list with some really important things on it.

I hope each one of those Things remains important to you, and a source of Thankfulness, for a long time to come.

I love that even your big sis Cassidy made the list – that must mean that the two of you have a really good relationship, because I know that when my own sister and I were young, there is no WAY I would EVER have ended up on her list. I was the meanest ever big sister to her, and used to pull all kinds of nasty pranks on her) but we’re friends now. If you get to spend so much more of your life with you and your sister on each others’ Thankful lists, that’s AWESOME, and more power to you.

[Bonus Tigger Comment: Chris, Cade is absolutely GORGEOUS-PORGEOUS…I want to EAT HIM ALL UP! He looks a coupla years older than Neff, and Neff is SO GORGEOUS (like Cade) that I eat him all up – I sneak up behind him and wrap my arms around him and then I sneak a hundred kisses onto the side of his head and nibble his ear….and Cade looks as though he has nibbleable ears…pwese may I?]

Thanks Lizzi. I’m shy. I don’t like doing stuff like that because I think I look bad.

      Cade

(He saw it for the first time this morning, and melted into embarrassment and tears.)

Cade, old stick, you are a brave chap for doing it. It didn’t look like it was really your natural arena (not a showman by heart – I know that one – I HATE HATE HATE having my photo taken, and if someone puts a video camera on me, I have to get my brain into a very specific ‘BIG SHOW OFF’ place, otherwise I just melt into a puddle and either panic because I look so awful, or I get very cross and have a temper-tantrum) BUT I truly enjoyed ‘meeting’ you like this, and…well…let’s just say, you IMPRESSED me for doing it anyway.

Stepping outside your comfort zone can be SO hard, but you know what, this is a safe place for you to have done it – everyone will think you’re awesome, even if you think it went horribly. *I* think you’re awesome. And I may have sent you a little something which might arrive soon…

Hang on in there buddy. You’re very cool. You got this.

First off, Cade is absolutely adorable and love that you got him to share his ten things of thankful with us this week. I truly was smiling ear to ear watching him and think he did a wonderful job sharing with us. And by the way, I tried to comment back to Cassidy before logging off last night, but it would go through. Can you please tell her if and when she does come to NY, I would love to meet her. She truly made my day with her response and totally think she is just a wonderful young lady! Chris, you kids are amazing and wouldn’t think they would be any other way with you as their mother. Love you and hugs!! 🙂

Great vlog, Cade! My boys watched it with me and they like your soccer shirt. I think you’d get along well with them (they are 8 and 5). It’s nice to see you on your Mom’s blog!

Chris, you are a good Mom to see each child’s different needs – too many parents really just don’t. I see it every day. And your kids are terrific!

Cade, you nailed this! Such great things to be thankful for and you did my favorite thing – explained WHY you are thankful for those things. Well done, you!

Thanks Tamara. I’m really smart and like school. I can read on a fifth grade level. And do math in division and times.

Just need to find the time now!!!

Thanks SO much for your sweet encouragement!!!

      Chris

Thank you, but I think it’s bad so I am going to redo it. You’re a nice person.

Cade, it was perfect. I have 2 boys and I know that talking to a camera isn’t always the favorite or easiest thing but you did a super job. I love your list of thankful things – some really great ones. I wish I still had a grandma to bake for me!!!

What an awesome list. I especially love that you are grateful for your grandparents. It is so awesome when kids have loving grandparents that take a role in their life. Having that extra source of love and support (apart from mom and dad) is huge.

    Way to go!
