My Thankfuls Begin at the Foot of the Cross

April 19, 2014 By momcafe 23 Comments

My Thankfuls begin at the foot of the Cross…

The root of all my thankfuls…  the ground from which they rise and and birth life.  This.  My list?  There wouldn’t be any to add if it were not based on this truth.  My truth.  My faith.  My Savior.  On this Holy day, I will honor my God, and share His Glory.  I soak in the brutal day and bathe myself in His Presence…  His sacrifice… His Resurrection…His Providence.  My greatest thankful begins at the foot of the cross.

Shall we go there?

Mark 15

New International Version (NIV)

16 The soldiers led Jesus away into the palace (that is, the Praetorium) and called together the whole company of soldiers. 17 They put a purple robe on him, then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on him. 18 And they began to call out to him, “Hail, king of the Jews!” 19 Again and again they struck him on the head with a staff and spit on him. Falling on their knees, they paid homage to him. 20 And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him out to crucify him.

The Crucifixion of Jesus

21 A certain man from Cyrene, Simon, the father of Alexander and Rufus, was passing by on his way in from the country, and they forced him to carry the cross. 22 They brought Jesus to the place called Golgotha (which means “the place of the skull”). 23 Then they offered him wine mixed with myrrh, but he did not take it. 24 And they crucified him. Dividing up his clothes, they cast lots to see what each would get.

25 It was nine in the morning when they crucified him. 26 The written notice of the charge against him read: the king of the jews.

All My Thankfuls Begin At the foot of the Cross

There you were…

Standing tall

In the midst of it all.

I see you stare

In the wind

But your eyes don’t tear

Heaven’s strength from within…

As Your Glory will shine

Your Glory will live on

Your Glory will rise…

In the wind.

We have great reason to rejoice, because of the willing sacrifice of Jesus Christ. He gives meaning and purpose to my life.

And for probably less than 30 pieces of silver, or three crows of the rooster, I’d be SOLD to the internet.

    *sigh*

    Beautiful poem. Good for you.

Half staying, half running like hell.

        Ironically.

        *sigh*

        All will be well.

Thanks so much Rebecca! It’s simple- but true depth lies beneath the story, and the ever present Glory of God. Yes? 🙂

I am SO excited to connect with you!!!
