Although we just began October, if you have been around the proverbial block a few times, you will understand how quickly the Holiday Season collides into fall. I know, I know… You say “Don’t push it!” And much like you, I won’t dare even set my eyes on the store’s outlandish displays until after Thanksgiving. But there are some exceptions to this rule. When you find a good gift, you want to make sure you buy it immediately. I do that quite often; as I have my stash of Christmas gifts I’ve bought throughout the year for many people I love.
With that said, I have had the honor and the privilege of reading a beautiful devotional that prepares your heart and your soul for the extraordinary story of Christmas. “Experience Christmas” by Christine Trevino, is that kind of gift you may want to purchase and stash away to later give many loved ones who desire to experience the richness and depth of Christmas, amidst the hurry and scurry of the season. Oh, and you’ll want one for yourself too. Just be sure to have it opened by December 1st.
Every year, I vow to soak in the moments of faithful inspiration through the advent and the coming of Christ… And I often fall short of the daily dose of devotion.
How about you?
I need something tangible to help ensure I focus on what is most important during the Christmas season. Last year I was blessed with the opportunity to read “Savoring Christmas” by Stacy Voss. This year, I am equally blessed to get my spiritual fill from Christine Trevino.
“Experience Christmas” is such a beautiful devotional with a comforting voice and inspiring message. Christine takes you through the story of Christ’s birth with new depth into each character’s perspective, and new insights into God’s message. In each daily chapter, you are invited into a scene of the Christmas story, as she offers informative details and fresh wisdom from scripture. She then continues into the journey revealing more depth in the affirmation of God’s Promise, while offering questions for the reader to gain an introspective view and apply it to their own lives. I love how Christine chooses a particular song for each devotion for us to soak in, as she then shares a prayer to reflect on that piece of the Christmas journey.
I find it so fulfilling, to read something I thought I knew everything about, and come away discovering a new and profound perspective, consequently adding a fresh new layer of enlightenment to Christ’s wondrous birth. Christine provides for us a place to prepare and ponder the coming of Christ. Within the pages of her offering, you will surely be moved and deeply touched by the truths she shares and the encouragement she seeks to renew and restore in us all, despite the distractions of such a busy and chaotic season.
This easy read will nourish your spirit and nurture your faith, as you discover once again, the miraculous and marvelous message of God, through the birth of our Savior.
I believe this book would be such a beautiful gift for any beloved friend or family member, as well as a much needed present for you! Perhaps you are in a church group where women would be blessed by such a gift. Maybe you know someone who desires to seek a deeper experience of the season, or perhaps there is a friend who doesn’t understand the true meaning of Christ’s birth.
Christine says it best in the final week of her devotion:
“The ultimate gift of Christmas is a personal one, and therefore our response must be as well. How will we approach the manger? What do we bring to this promised Child-King? How will we remember the Savior, not only at Christmas, but throughout the story of our lives?
There are some of the most important questions we can ask ourselves- the questions that often take time and space to consider. Christmas is so much more than just a few moments of December spent with friends and family.
It has the potential to transform our very lives.” (Page 129)
Thank you, Christine.
May your words be a light and a comfort for many, this Christmas season and always…
