I recently had a heart to heart with a beloved friend. She is facing a journey no one could imagine, and I am honored to be marching by her side while she pushes forward on a path she did not choose. She has regrets. She wishes life before the ‘turn’ would have been different…
And it makes me wonder how many of us would have similar regrets if our circumstances changed dramatically.
Do we embrace all that we have? What if it was taken from us too soon? Our loved ones, family, husbands, children…Those people that matter most to us?
Have we truly given it our all? Or would we be left with regrets of our own, if our fate changed for the worse.
Today I am over at my dear friend Laurie’s place sharing this profound conversation and what we must learn from it. Oh, how I would love for you to read it! I do hope and pray that it may change your perspective… and encourage you to take hold of what you have now- treasure it, for you never truly know when you will lose it. Disease, sickness, accidents, and any circumstances that change our world can bring out an out-pouring of regret. Perhaps it’s time we realized that and made the changes we need to make now. Not later. Now.
Because there is no going back…

I am honored that you chose to share your friend’s journey on my blog. I hope you continue to let us in as you travel with her, learning that life changes. It just does. To live each day as if it were our last, each moment even, would be a life well lived I think. Glad to have you as my guest.

I am just THRILLED to share it with you and your readers, Laurie! I know that this is a tough message but a powerful one…
Our lives are fragile. I’m not sure we all really grasp how vulnerable our circumstance are- and I for one, am convicted that I need to embrace more of each moment and love deeply those that I hold dear. I will surely keep you posted on my friend’s journey…

These are difficult things to think about but sometimes we need to face them. Nobody wants to live with regrets and reflecting on how we treat those we love now, before it’s too late, can be powerful.

So much is taken for granted… we simply don’t realize what it’s all worth. I hate that it takes a dire circumstance to make us truly embrace this truth! Sigh…

Prayers for your friend!
I believe that everything happens for a reason. A friend gave me a huge teddy bear, all white fuzz with a smirk on his face.and 5 feet tall. “Polar’ dines with me and helps me with my jigsaw puzzle. He doesn’t talk much, in fact not at all. Most importantly, we get along well and when I open my door, he is here.
I was lonely. . .children far away, no husband. . .I prayed for God to help me be alright living alone.
What happened here?

Oh mom!! To everything, there is a season under Heaven.
Your season will change… in time. For now, hold on to that bear and that puzzle and those friends and your place. There is light in those things!

Oh, so sorry for your friend and yet she is so fortunate that she can call you friend.
In fact, I think that anyone who is privileged to call you friend is blessed – I just read Ilene’s sweet words about you and the awesome support you are for her – it doesn’t surprise me at all after reading your blog and seeing your genuinely caring and sweet spirit.

Thanks so much Jennifer! I know my friend appreciates people like you… and yes, bearing each other’s burdens is truly significant. Having a hand to hold during hardships, helps ease the pain- I for one am grateful for that. My friend has taught me much, and although I hate her circumstance- it reminds us all to embrace what we do have right now. This moment. It can change in an instant.
