November
How you bless me
With your rich colors
And crisp air.
Your transforming days
As life slowly fades
From the scenery that surrounds
Our landscape.
You bring anticipation
Unsteady hesitation
Of ebb and flowing winds and sun
Rain and clouds and frost come dawn.
You’re uncertain through each day
But winding through the weeks
Your destiny waits…
The trees grow bare
And your days grow old
You bring us winter’s gray,
Nostalgic and breathtaking you are
Toward your final day.
Oh November
You bless me as you change
Reminding me of this earth’s glory
Showing nothing stays the same.
I breathe in a heavy sigh
And embrace the chilled air and dreary days ahead
Silence, slowness, slumber
Waiting for the light
To awaken my spirit again.
In time it is summoned
Sweet life renewed
And the aching in my soul
Will be filled with color again.
Beautifully written, Chris! It’s dark here by 4:30. Dreary indeed. But, yes, that’s why spring is so renewing, isn’t it?
Thanks so much Jennifer! Oh yes, spring rocks! Thank God we know there is light coming…just wish the dark months weren’t so long! If I had my vote- spring and summer for 10 months. November and December only are the dark and cold months. Throw in some snow for Christmas… 🙂
Beautiful Chris! You are so gifted!
Oh thank you so so much Marcia! You bless me… 🙂
Ahhhh…beautiful. I do love fall. I really wait for each season with a nostalgic anticipation of its unique blessing. The beauty of the pure, white covering of the snow in the winter helps me get throug. I couldn’t live somewhere where I didn’t have all the seasons – I love them all! I simply can’t wait for that first “real” snowfall! I miss the sunlight that lasts well into the evening, and that does get me down sometimes, but there are so many things I enjoy about winter – snuggling with my girls watching movies and drinking hot cocoa, playing in the snow making THE BEST darn snow fort our neighborhood’s ever seen, sledding, CHRISTMAS and all our traditions wrapped into the celebration of our Savior’s birth…..I could go on and on (even more than I did). I will pray for a renewed joy in God’s ever-creative touches of winter for you Chris – love you bunches!
Oh So beautifully put dear friend!!! I too love all those things… and yet, the gray and lifeless landscape stirs a heavy spirit within. The seasons are always moving and transforming… Oh how I love them too!!! 🙂
Wow Chris! Didn’t know you were a poet! Beautifully written dear!! 🙂 I agree with Tammy…I absolutely LOVE all seasons, for each of them have their purpose and each of them brings change, something we all must do. Thanks for sharing my friend! 😉 Have a blessed week! 😉
Thanks so much Michell!! I think you and Tammy would get along really well! You both have that inner beauty and faith that is so inspiring… 🙂 Thanks so much for reading my friend!!
Beautiful poem Chris!! Nice timing for reflection as the season is for sure turning! Sometimes depending on the ‘seasons’ of our lives, we can be grateful for the change that inevitably comes. As this season changes, I for one am so grateful to have made it through this past season that I am more ready for winter than ever before! Welcome holidays, cold, snow, blankets, hot cocoa, and all the wonderful blessings of winter!!! Thank you God!!!
YES!! I am so grateful that you are in a season of plenty. Plenty of love and unity and fulfillment! Enter in my dear sweet sister. Embrace it all!!! 🙂
That is absolutely beautiful. You’ve captured November, though I have to say, I think I love it a wee bit more than you. I love hunkering down for the winter … going into my own little hibernation! Or maybe it’s just an excuse to eat heartier foods!
Oh yes! I am ALL about the yummy comfort food of winter!!! I am antsy by nature, so being cooped up in the winter just about kills me…. BUT I do love all the quiet times the season brings as well. 🙂
Beautiful piece Chris. I happen to be a huge fan of fall…the changing leaves never ceases to amaze me.-Ashley
Thanks Ashley!! I think September is my favorite month because it is always so beautiful and watching the changing colors is truly miraculous! October and november turn more nostalgic and dreamy to me… all beautiful in their own right! Thanks for reading my friend! 🙂
beautiful poem Pea!! Love you and miss you
Did you hear me last night? I was outside yelling your name… “HELLO PEA!!! WHERE ARE YOU??? I’M MISSING YOU!!!!” Did ya??? 🙂
{Melinda} How beautiful, Chris. You are an amazing writer. Such great imagery. Since I live in Florida, I can live vicariously through your words. Everything here is palm trees and green! 🙂 I do miss autumn.
Thanks for coming by on our SITS day yesterday … your comments are always so special. 🙂
Thank you so much Melinda! I know by about January 2nd…I will be wishing I was down in Florida with the palm trees and warm sun!! SO glad you had your SITS day! Hope it was a HIT!! 🙂
This is beautifully written and also fall is my favorite season. Visiting from SITS Sharefest. Have a great weekend!
Thanks so much for taking the time to read and visit over here!! 🙂 Fall is truly magnificent in so many ways, isn’t it?
