This book gives us a comprehensive look into vitality of The Bible from its conception up until the present day. There are facts and stories and quotes and claims that will prove its significance, its relevance, and it incomparable reverence.
“This Dangerous Book” brilliantly and objectively answers profound questions so many of us have about The Bible. What I love about this book is the goal, the intention, and the purpose to educate and inform anyone who is curious to learn more about this powerful book.
“What is its history?
How did we get it?
Who wrote it?
Is it true or a fairy tale?
What impact has it had?
Why has this book had the impact it has?
What story does the book tell?
There are many who maintain strong feelings about this book. It is loved and it is hated. Over time, people have died defending it, and there are those who have hated it enough to kill those defending it. How could a book, and the beliefs and faith associated with the book, incite this much devotion and hatred, all at the same time? What does that say about the human condition? Could it be that the Bible helps us understand our condition and the internal struggle for meaning and purpose?
Whether you love it or hate it, it is worth your time to get to know it. And many great thinkers and leaders throughout history have done so.” (Page 215)
Jackie and Steve spent years investigating and researching many vital relics associated with the Bible and a variety of ancient scrolls and artifacts of the Bible to collect and add to their museum. They described in their book, the strategies in designing the purpose of The Museum of The Bible:
“Early on, we decided to look at the Bible in three different ways: its history, its narrative, and its impact. In the museum, we dedicate a floor to each of these, and we developed curriculum with these three aspects in mind.”
Friends, this book and the museum are both worth your time. What an incredible journey and inspiring story The Bible presents to us all. Let’s not miss out on what we can learn and understand from the most celebrated, honored, influential, prolific, maligned, and glorified book of all time.
